The term “unique” certainly applies to this pleasant little course - a combination golf course and working sheep ranch. This is actually the third incarnation of a golf course on the property. D.C Jones, had golf courses on the land in both the 1930s and 1950s, both surviving for a while, but then dying out as local interest waned. At 2722 yards and par 35, it is somewhere in between an executive course and a standard length 9 hole layout. As you would expect, it lies on rolling terrain and has broad, open fairways.
Apart from the sheep, the course has few hazards other than some small creeks that appear on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th holes. The creek on the 1st hole is tucked neatly in front of the green and hidden from view. Golfers are, therefore, advised not to try a hit and roll approach to this green.
One final note on play at this memorable course: golfers who make cheating a regular part of their game are reminded that there are at least 100 golf course marshals waiting to tell you you’ve done baaaaad.”
