Yielding glimpses of Cowichan Bay from several holes, plus vistas of the surrounding mountains, this picturesque, semi private course lures golfers with its sedate rural charm. Here, fairways range from open to tight as they flow through orchards and tall stands of trees.
The original 9 holes date back to 1947 and are the creation of A.V. McCann, an architect responsible for many popular layouts across the country. The newer 9 opened in 1985 - the handiwork of club member Ken Worthington. Both sets feature a relatively flat layout, but gentle slopes and undulations can be found accenting many holes.
Breaking the pattern is Cowichan’s 11th hole, which requires golfers to play past a tree filled ravine on the left side. A broad gully and a lake protect the hole’s elevated green, adding additional difficulty.
Of intermediate challenge, Cowichan is host to many tournaments including the annual Cowichan Open.
